Aspect schools

The Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) school program provides vital educational support to over 1,100 students each year. We currently have 9 autism-specific independent schools: 8 in NSW and one in South Australia, and over 100 satellite classes (autism-specific classes located in mainstream schools) across Australia.

We ensure that class sizes are small, and there’s a high teacher to student ratio, so every student gets the individualised attention they need.

Every Aspect classroom and playground requires a range of autism-specific resources, equipment and teaching tools in order to support students who might experience challenges with communication, sensory processing or emotional regulation. This tailored learning approach provides a supportive environment that adapts to the needs of each student, giving them the best opportunity to engage with their education and explore their strengths and interests.

In every Aspect school, we celebrate difference and help children on the spectrum develop confidence through encouragement, engagement, learning and understanding. This helps to give our students, their parents and families a deeper confidence that they can take into every part of their life.

Our goal is to help students develop their skills to become as independent as possible and to enable them to succeed in the wider community.

The Stock a School for autism campaign supports this goal by getting much needed resources to our students so they can thrive at school.

With your help, we’ll be giving our students on the autism spectrum the skills they need to succeed in 2019 and beyond. View all the resources here.
